Other Causes of Driving Anxiety
While these are three causes that cause individuals to be terrified of getting behind the wheel, some people have circumstantial anxiety about driving. Some reasons behind this may be a situation that is causing an individual stress. People who are easily altered or distracted by an exam coming up, a job interview, or a dentist appointment may find that driving causes a certain level of anxiety.
Driving anxiety can also happen in non-experienced drivers. Young people or people who have recently gotten their drivers licenses may face mild anxiety during the first few months of driving.
Most drivers have had some form of driving anxiety in their lifetime, although it usually happens to people with nervous and easily excitable personalities. Individuals who get ruffled easily may find that driving down a different route than what they are used to or driving to a new location is a stressful experience.
While it may sound funny, some people may have anxiety about driving due to self-esteem issues. Whether they don’t like being on the spot or they question their ability in every day experiences, anxiety while driving can stem from a lack of self-confidence.
